“I invite you to apply to be Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, it starts your own learning adventure, offering opportunities for personal growth, which no doubt will have an impact on your students and your nearest community; without realizing it, you’re also helping to build global education: all ideas matter.” – Àngels Soriano Sanchez, Spain

The past November 7, 2014, late in the afternoon, I sat in the staff room to check email. Just stayed a couple of people, when I read the mail that notified me that my learning activity had selected to become a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert. I remember that I immediately shared it with my colleague of mathematics, who also was in the staff room: great, good work! It was his comment. A sense of proud and emotion just let me to pronounce a complete phrase.

The activity that we have summited, OneNote: the search for Ithaca was an activity of content closing o, which we had worked with the creativity and communication skills. Among all the students who were done in its last year before College, would compose a book of essays in the Joan Fuster’s Style. A book where concepts that they themselves chose with the unique premise that your selected word initial them worked out was the same as the initial of her second surname. It was an activity that we were doing manually for a long time; but nothing better that we would make to digitize it through OneNote, which offered the possibility to share it on social networking like twitter also we use in the class.

As a language and literature Teacher, I try to instill in my students taste of reading, and I found the technology vehicle to draw near to them, such as the creation of booktrailer or the use of Twitter to share reviews of readings. Thanks to the work of students, we started an adventure as the own Ulysses, searching our own Ithaca. The most important is not searching the destination, It is all that gives you the own way of learning.

The important first stops was Microsoft in Global Education Forum in Barcelona last March 2014. Five intense days to share with other innovative teachers (as my Spanish colleagues), presentations of the latest Microsoft applications for the world of education. Many ideas, learning activities that we made, and after we will carry to our classrooms. I also had the opportunity to share an exceptional team to develop a learning activity.  As well as I know another Expert Educator in person, as @ToddLavogue, whom I had met through Twitter, among others.  I personally see that Twitter is a Personal Learning Environment tool; also  I know the rest of the collaborators of @Innteach, where a group of  passionate teachers about  Technology and education, comments in their native language more interesting pedagogically apps to W8.

The program Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert offers you a continuous training over a year, the possibility to become familiar with new tools such as Office Mix, and the commitment to guide us in the development of our skills so we can share and spread to other teachers learning activities innovative that we conducted with our students. This dissemination of our activities, beliefs of education linked to technology, and  they put us in touch with other teachers, who wish to also share projects, whether inside our country or around the world. All of them are creating this wonderful quote Building classroom without walls. We are offering our students challenges that help them to grow, at the same time, that help us to grow ourselves as teachers. Obviously, consolidate your personal brand, as well as make visible it in the educational community.

I remember a few verses of a Catalan poet Miquel Martí i Pol ” I live in a small town, in a small country, and at the same time, I want to that clear, that what I write,  I write for all, and for me, it’s as if the whole world will rotate around the axis of my verses“.  Any classroom in the world can have the opportunity of having a passionate teacher, who offers its students the best activities, helping them to develop the skills of the future; these activities may been carried out in other classes of the world, because the objective is the same: better education; improve the world where we live.

From these lines, I invite you to apply to be Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, it starts your own learning adventure, offering opportunities for personal growth, which no doubt will have an impact on your students and your nearest community; without realizing it, you’re also helping to build global education: all ideas matter.
